What are you doing to take care of your mental health?

What are you doing to take care of your mental health?

There are a few easy things you can do...

It's Mental Health Awareness Month
In our busy lives, we can sometimes forget to take a moment to just be. We are human beings, not human doings, after all. On this glorious Saturday, I wanted to share some simple things that you can do throughout the day to help your mental health on a regular basis. 1. Eat well. Good food does a body good.  2. Get sleep. Listen to your body and devote time to resting. 3. Practice mindfulness and positive thinking. Reframe your thoughts and see the alternative perspective. 4. Stay connected. Maintain healthy relationships that light you up. 5. Move your body. Dance, garden, have sex, take a walk, just do something that involves physically moving. 6. Process your emotions. Negative emotions that are not released in some way, shape, or form, live inside the body and become dis-ease. Cry, shout, write it out, but get them out of you- in a healthy way.  7. Be still. Sit with what is and accept it. 8. Be silent. Silence can be really loud sometimes. 9. Just breathe. The best way to calm down. 10. Limit smoking, drugs, and alcohol. Of course we may love a little indulgence, but we all know that these things aren't good for us. If you start paying attention to your habits and how they impact your mental health, you can alter how you approach these situations with consciousness and awareness. See how much your life changes by making these commitments to yourself and your well being.  Everyone around you will take notice too, and be affected by the change. Be the change you want to be.
Need help recovering your mental health?
If you or someone you know is suffering from poor mental health and would like to make a change in your circumstances, please consider scheduling a session with me. Together we can talk through some simple things that you can implement on a regular basis and make a plan to get you from where you are to where you want to be. You are in charge of the thoughts that come in and what you do with them. Everything you see and hear are absorbed into your brain, and it does have an impact on how you think, act, and function. Control what comes in, quiet the voices within to a point of stillness, breathe, and just take it one day at a time. The past has already happened, you can't change it. The future hasn't happened yet, so don't worry about it. The only thing you have is the present moment. Be here now. Get yourself help.
The Substitute helps your mental health

Studies show that consciously breathing has profound affects on our nervous system, as well as our physical bodies, and emotions. The Substitute is the healthy alternative and accessory to help you just breathe, when you need a pick me up. The benefits are numerous: reduces stress, anxiety, and depression, relieves pain and tension in the body, relaxes the mind and the body, improves digestion and mental clarity, promotes cell rejuvenation, making you look younger, helps with insomnia, lowers heart rate and blood pressure, it even corrects posture. Using The Substitute throughout the day as soon as you need it, will immediately change the situation at hand, and give you the mental clarity and boost of energy to do it better, with more focus and ease. The Substitute is the ultimate accessory to use throughout your day to remind you to just breathe. We don't realize how often we are holding our breath. By taking in a few deep, long inhales and exhales, we can cure many of our ailments without the need for pharmaceuticals. Also, when you pay attention to your breath, you become more aware, raising your consciousness. Try it today. Get one for you and a friend. Or mom. Anyone can use The Substitute, any place, at any time. It is also a pointer, thinking stick, back scratcher, hand slapper, ass smacker, dance partner, to use on the plane, in the train, at the bar, in the restaurant, on the dance floor, in the bedroom, at church, in school, at work, wherever. Just breathe.

Intimate Conversations with Lady Kendra
Join me every Monday at 9pm CET on Instagram Live as I talk about life and such. This is my way to have a conversation with the world about some subjects that may be taboo or touchy. For me, there is no such thing. Please feel free to leave a comment or ask a question. This week I talked about mental health. Next week I'll discuss overcoming obstacles. Be a part of the conversation and follow the journey @kendraleonard. Starting in June, I will host this at my studio in Florence, Italy where we can meet and talk about these topics in person from 7-9pm as a collective. Become a member of The Substitute Society and be a part of the (r)evolution.
